You will have the opportunity to get acquainted with cultural and historical explorations, Armenian folk songs, famous composers including the choirmaster, priest and musicologist Komitas.

ITINERARY

 

Day 1         Yerevan
Arrival at the Zvartnots International Airport. Welcome by the local tour guide. Transfer to the hotel. Rest time.

Day 2         Yerevan City Tour
Meeting with the local tour guide at the hotel. Yerevan, the colorful capital of Armenia, welcomes you and invites you to an interesting city tour. We will explore the Matenadaran Museum and Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, the world's most valuable and largest collection of centuries-old manuscripts have been preserved here over many centuries. Afterward, we will explore the subway (Metro Yerevan), Abovyan street, which is one of the oldest streets of Yerevan, the "singing fountains", which are especially impressive on summer evenings, when colorful fountains dance to the songs of Aznavour or Waltz by Johann Strauss. Later, we will have a nice cultural evening.

Day 3         Yerevan - Geghard (Choir Quintet) - Basalt Organs - Garni - Yerevan
Early in the morning, we will drive to the province of Kotayk, on the way we will admire the mountainous gorges and wooded mountain slopes. We will unfold the Monastic complex of Geghard from the 13th century, which is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here we will attend a religious concert with the excellent interpretation of the choral quintet. The trip will continue to Garni. Here, we will explore the natural organ, called ''The Symphony of Stones'', an ensemble of magnificent basalt organ pipes. Next, we will ascent to the pagan temple of Garni from the 1st century. In the evening we will return to Yerevan. Later, you will have free time for self-discoveries.

Day 4         Yerevan: Masterclass of Armenian Dance Art - Megerian Carpets
Today we will have a nice day accompanied by traditional dance and music. On a visit to a well-known folklore dance ensemble, we will get a nice insight into the traditional dance art of Armenia and learn to dance Armenian. Later, we will discover the Megerian Carpets factory, where beautiful hand-knotted rugs are displayed. In the colorful atmosphere, we will enjoy the fine dishes of traditional cuisine. In the evening you will have free time for individual discoveries.

Day 5         Yerevan - Amberd - Aragats - Yerevan
Aragats (4090 m), is the highest mountain in Armenia, which will be our destination for today. On the way, we will explore the partially destroyed fortress Amberd (2300 m above sea level) from the 11th Century, with its fortified tower, its baths, city walls and the church Vahramashen. Afterward, we will have a picnic in a lovely spot nearby. Next, we will drive to the high mountain lake Qari Lich, ''stone lake'', a popular campsite for mountaineers. We will admire the alpine landscapes, beautiful variety of colors and the fresh mountain air. Depending on your wishes, we can hike the southern summit (3880 m above sea level). In the evening we will return to Yerevan. Rest time.

Day 6         Yerevan - Sevanavank - Haghartsin - Goshavank - Odzun
Today, we will continue our discoveries in the north of Armenia. We will depart to the Lake Sevan, "the blue pearl of Armenia". On the Sevan peninsula, we will explore the Sevanavank Monastery with one of the five holy cross-stones. Next, we will explore the picturesque city of Dilijan, "Armenian Switzerland". In the vicinity of Dilijan, in deep forests, we will visit the monasteries of Haghartsin (11th century) and Goshavank (12th-13th century), the specimen of the ancient culture and history of Armenia. Later, we will depart to the Village Odzun.

Day 7         Odzun - Akhtala - Haghpat - Sanahin - Odzun
The picturesque province of Lori will welcome us. We will explore the village Akhtala famous for its frescoes. Next, we will visit the Monasteries Haghpat and Sanahin amidst beautiful nature. Both are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Afterward, we will continue to the forerunner of the Armenian cross-stones - the dome basilica Odzun. Overnight in Odzun.

Day 8         Odzun - Gyumri City Tour
In the morning we will drive to the Shirak plateau. We will visit the second largest city of Armenia Gyumri - a city of art and culture, tradition, hospitality, humor and irrepressible enthusiasm for life. Here, you can also explore the old town with its beautiful old townhouses, colorful facades, and typical wooden balconies. On a beautiful city tour, we will observe the everyday life and the crafting life of the locals.

Day 9         Gyumri - Harichavank - Yereruk - Yerevan
Today we will depart to the village of Harich, with its The 7th-century Harichavank Monastery. Famous poets of the 20th-century studied at the monastery school. Today many students study in the monastery, which is still an important spiritual center today. Later, we will visit the ruins of the basilica Yereruk. In the evening we will return to Yerevan by train. Rest time.

Day 10       Yerevan - Zvartnots - Echmiadzin - Aknashen - Yerevan
Today, we will start our exploratory trip to Echmiadzin, the most important religious center of Armenian Christianity. On the way we will visit the ruins of the "round cathedral of Zvartnots" and the church Hripsime, both from the 7th century. We will visit the Cathedral of Echmiadzin. Next, we will continue to the village of Aknashen. Warm Armenian hospitality invites you once again to the Armenian table, for nice talks, laughter, and joy. You will have the unique opportunity to prepare "Lavash", the traditional Armenian flatbread, and to taste the Armenian specialties in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Full of impressions we will return to Yerevan. Rest time.

Day 11       Yerevan: Komitas Museum - Tsitsernakaberd - cultural evening 
At the beginning of the day, we will visit the Museum of Komitas (Soghomon Soghomonian). He is considered the founder of classical Armenian music. Next, we will explore Tsitsernakaberd, the museum, and the Genocide Memorial. With an interesting cultural evening, the journey will come to an end. We wish you a good return flight and look forward to seeing you again.

Transfer to the airport. End of our services.
