ITINERARY

 

Day 1         Yerevan
Arrival at the Zvartnots International Airport. Transfer to the hotel. Rest time.

Day 2         Yerevan City Tour
The local guide will welcome you at the lobby of your hotel in the morning.
Yerevan, one of the oldest cities in the world, welcomes you and invites you to an interesting city tour. We will cover the Abovyan street, one of the oldest streets of Yerevan, the metro (Metro Yerevan), the Cascade, from where the whole city will be unfolded in front of your eyes. After visiting the opera house, we will continue via North Avenue to The Republic Square. In the evening you will have time for individual discoveries.

Day 3         Yerevan - Khosrov Reserve - Basalt Organs - Garni - Khor Virap - Areni
We will embark on beautiful discoveries and adventurous hikes in the southwest of Armenia. A special natural enjoyment is the Khosrov Reserve with untouched nature, the Azat Gorge, and the medieval bridge. A large number of basalt columns transform the landscape over the Azat River into a giant organ. We will walk to the pagan temple of Garni from the 1st century. Later, we will depart to the south. On our way we will explore the monastery and place of pilgrimage Khor Virap, meaning "deep pit", from the 4th century. The trip will continue to Areni, the famous wine region of Armenia. In a wine cellar, we will have wine-tasting experience. Overnight in the host family in Areni.   

Day 4         Areni - Noravank - Areni
Today we will hike through the impressive Amaghu Gorge, known for its brick-red cliffs. We will visit the monastery Noravank, which is beautifully situated on a hill and is considered one of the most spectacular monasteries in Armenia. After an eventful hike, we will return to Areni and enjoy our well-deserved rest.

Day 5         Areni - Caves of Mozrov - Herher
The day will start from an adventurous hike to the rough caves of Mozrov with their unusual formations. Afterward, we will drive to Herher, where the nice host family awaits us.

Day 6         Herher - Vayots Sar - Herher
Today we will hike to Vayos Sar (2581 m) and descend into its deep crater where a chapel was built. We will have a picnic on this site. In the evening we will return to Herher for enjoying the rest time.

Day 7         Herhrer - Gndevank - Karahunj - Goris
In the untouched nature, by the river Arpa, Gndevank Monastery is located. On the way to the monastery, we will admire the beautiful basalt columns. In the afternoon we will drive to the province of Syunik, where we will unfold the megalithic complex Karahunj (5000 - 5500 BC), whose megaliths were erected in the Bronze Age. In the evening we will arrive in Goris. Rest time in Goris.

Day 8         Goris - Kndzoresk - Tatev - Goris
The hike will begin in the village of Khndzoresk, where we will visit the cliff dwellings. Later, we will head to Tatev, where we will take the longest reversible cable car, "Wings of Tatev", and experience the breathtaking views of the gorge Vorotan, with its dense forests. On a rocky outcrop lies the marvelous monastery complex of Tatev (9th century), one of the most important architectural monuments of the country. We will have a small hike in the area. In the evening we will return to Goris for overnight.

Day 9         Goris - Selim Caravansarai - Armaghan
Today we will begin our exploratory mission with the caravansarai Selim, situated in the magnificent Selim valley. Our upcoming destination will be the volcanic mountain Armaghan (2840 m). Despite the altitude, the volcano is easy to climb. We will admire the crater and the freshwater lake. From the top, we will have a wondrous view of the spectacular landscapes of Geghama mountains. Later, we will descend to the foot of the mountain, where we will spend the night in the tents.

Day 10       Armaghan - Yeranos - Noratus - Hayravank - Lake Sevan - Yerevan
In the morning we will put away our tents and hike to the village of Yeranos. Later, we will depart to Noratus Cemetary, with numerous ''khachkars'' around the site. On the way, we will explore the 9th-century Hayravank Monastery, located on the shores of beautiful Lake Sevan, "the blue pearl of Armenia". On the Sevan peninsula, we will uncover the church Sevanavank with one of the five holy cross-stones. Afterward, we will drive to Yerevan. Rest time.

Day 11       Yerevan City Tour 
At the beginning of the day, we will visit Matenadaran, the valuable treasury of the old manuscript collection. After lunch, we will explore Tsitsernakaberd, the museum and the Genocide Memorial. After a rest time, we will cover the colorful handicraft market "Vernissage". Now it is time to say goodbye and pack the suitcase full of impressions.

Day 12       Return flight
Transfer to the airport. End of our services.
