This tour includes mountain hikes and a diversity of cultural and historical discoveries in different regions of Armenia. Climb the highest peak of Armenia, and enjoy the spectacular view in a good weather.

ITINERARY

 

Day 1       Yerevan
Arrival at Zvartnots International Airport. Welcome, transfer to the hotel. Time for rest.

Day 2        Yerevan City Tour 
Meeting with the guide at the reception of the hotel in the morning.
Our journey will begin with the discovery of the famous Matenadaran, which preserves thousands of ancient manuscripts with timeless charm. After lunch, we will visit the Armenian Genocide Memorial, Tsitsernakaberd, and its museum. Later, we will attend a cultural evening in Yerevan.

Day 3        Yerevan - Hovhannavank - Saghmosavank - Amberd - Qari Lich - Yerevan
In the morning we will head to the monastery of Saint John or Hovhannavank of 4th century and the monastery of Saghmosavank ("monastery of the Psalms") of the 13th century. In the afternoon, we will discover the fortress of Amberd of the 11th century (2300 m of alt.) with its dungeon, baths, ramparts and the Vahramashen church. Later, we will trek from Qari Lich (Stone Lake) to the southern summit of the country's highest mountain, the Aragats (4095 m). In the evening we will return to the capital. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 4        Yerevan City Tour
After breakfast, we will continue to discover the Armenian capital Yerevan. We will stroll in the city center. Next, we will visit the Museum of Armenian History where you can learn a lot about the rich history of the Armenian people.

Day 5        Yerevan - Khor Virap - Areni - Noravank - Herher
Early in the morning we will depart to Khor Virap Monastery ("deep dungeon") of the 4th century, located on the Armenian-Turkish border. Here, we will have a magnificent view of The Mount Ararat, an extinct volcano of 4 million years. Next, we will take a direction to the south. Afterward, we will stop in Areni, a charming wine village. We will have a wine-tasting experience at a winemaker's family. The hike will continue to the Monastery of Noravank of the 13th century ("New Monastery"). Later, we will have lunch in a picturesque cave specially designed for travelers. In the evening, we will arrive at Herher village. Homestay in Herher.

Day 6        Herher - Vayots sar - Herher
Early in the morning, we will hike to The Mount Vayots sar, to admire the rising sun and the impressive landscapes nearby. Later, we will descend into the crater and will admire the chapel built in the center. Next, we will have a picnic on the spot. In the evening we will go back to Herher for rest.

Day 7        Herher - Selim Caravanserai - Armaghan - Hayravank - Sevan
Today we will continue to the Gegharkunik region. We will head to the 14th-century Caravanserai of Selim and later, will hike to The Mount Armaghan, where we will explore its crater and lake. Later, we will admire ancient Monastery Hayravank, located at the shore of the Lake Sevan. Next, we will stop at our cozy hotel in Sevan.

Day 8        Sevanavank - Geghard - Symphony of Organs - Garni - Yerevan
The day begins with a morning walk on the peninsula of Sevan with its two churches, Holy Apostles and Holy Mother of God (9th century). In the afternoon, we will depart to the 13th century Geghard Monastery. Later, we will continue the route to the impressive site of Garni with its pagan temple of the first century. We will unfold its beautiful basaltic organ in the gorge. In the evening we will return to Yerevan and you will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 9        Yerevan - Zvartnots - Echmiadzin - Aknashen - Yerevan
The day will be dedicated to the discovery of the Armavir region, including the ruins of the 7th century round Zvartnots Cathedral, the Church of St. Hripsime and the Etchmiadzin Cathedral, the Armenian "Vatican", the seat of the Catholicos and the oldest Christian site of worship in the country (301-303). Afterward, we will depart to the village of Aknashen, where we will have Armenian traditional meals and participate in the preparation of lavash, traditional Armenian bread. In the evening, we will return to Yerevan and prepare for departure.

Day 10      Return Flight
Transfer to the airport. End of our services.
