ITINERARY

Day 1      Tbilisi
Arrival in Tbilisi. Welcome at the airport. Transfer to the hotel, rest.

Day 2      Tbilisi City Tour
This day will be dedicated to the discovery of the Georgian capital, the "Old City" in particular, located at the foot of the mountain Mtasminda (sacred mountain). Almost all the buildings in the old town are historical and cultural monuments, like the Metekhi church (5th-8th century), which was once the residence of the kings of Georgia, the brick vaults of the sulfur baths, the baths of Orbeliani with the Persian madrasas facades. We will visit the fortress of Narikala (4th century) and the Synagogue. Next, we will head to Sioni Cathedral and Anchiskhati Church (6th century), the oldest church in Tbilisi. In the afternoon, we will walk along the main street of Rustaveli and visit the flea market.

Day 3     Tbilisi - Mtskheta - Jvari - Tbilisi
Today we will explore the ancient royal capital of Mtskheta. We will cover Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, the most revered church in Georgia. Near Mtskheta, we will visit the Jvari monastery on a promontory of the ridge. Along with other monuments of Mtskheta, this monastery is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Later, we will take a direction to Tbilisi. Free time for individual discoveries.

Day 4    Tbilisi - David Gareja - Ujarma Fortress - Telavi City Tour
From the colorful capital Tbilisi, we will head to the east of the country, where beautiful and impressive discoveries await us. We will drive to the 3000-year-old troglodyte monastery of David Gareja, located in the semi-desert, a place around which many legends entwined. David Gareja was one of the "thirteen Syrian fathers" who spread Christianity in Georgia in the sixth century. Next, we will discover the fortress of Ujarma (3rd century). Only ruins have been preserved until today. From the fortress opens an excellent view of the majestic Gombori mountains. After the walk, we will take the road to Telavi. This city, located in one of the most beautiful valleys of the river Alazani is considered the cradle of winemaking. We will walk through the colorful streets and admire the beautiful architecture that gives us a glimpse of the ancient Georgian culture.

Day 5     Telavi - Tsinandali - Ikalto - Alaverdi - Telavi
This day will begin with the visit to the museum of Tchavtchavadze in Tsinandali. The house-museum is surrounded by the wonderful garden. From here a beautiful view opens on the vineyards, we can discover them and taste good Georgian wine. Then, on the way, we will explore the Ikalto monastery where one of the most beautiful cultural centers of Georgia, Ikalto Academy is located. Then we will head towards the mighty Alaverdi Cathedral, located in the middle of the Kakheti wine region. In the evening we will return to Telavi.

Day 6     Telavi - Gremi - Ananouri - Stepantsminda (Kazbegi)
In the morning, we will leave for the mountainous region of Kazbegi. Later, we will walk through the fortress of Gremi, the Kakhetian royal residence. From the fortress, we can admire the picturesque view of the slopes of the Caucasus. Next, we will visit the fortress of Ananuri (16th century), on the northwest bank of the reservoir of Chinvali, where we can admire the breathtaking views of the Aragvi Valley. Afterward, we will take a direction towards Stephantsminda. Rest.

Day 7     Stepantsminda - Gergeti Sameba - Sno - Stepantsminda
We will drive to the idyllic village of Stepantsminda. Surrounded by beautiful mountains, it seems particularly attractive. You can admire one of the highest mountains in Georgia, Kazbeg (5047 m). According to ancient mythology, Prometheus was chained to it. Then, we will hike to the village of Gergeti, where the Church of the Holy Trinity (Gergeti Sameba) is perched on the mountain. Even today, it is a place of pilgrimage, a highlight of the trip on the Georgian military road. Afterward, we will unfold the village of Sno with its medieval guard towers (XVI century). In the evening we will return to Stephantsminda. Rest.

Day 8     Stepantsminda - Ubisi - Kutaisi
Early in the morning, we will depart to the west of Georgia. On our way, we will stop at the church of Ubisa and discover splendid, partially destroyed frescoes. The trip will continue to Kutaisi, place whose name is strongly related to the Argonauts. According to archaeological studies, the city was the capital of the kingdom of Colchis. We will have a nice walk through the city and discover the city with its unique architecture.

Day 9     Kutaisi - Gelati - Bagrati - Martvili Canyon - Kutaisi
Another day in the land of the Argonauts. We will visit the Monastery Gelati, which is surrounded by frescos. Then we will admire the Bagrati Cathedral, which has been renovated and included into UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Next, the adventurous discovery awaits us in the Martvili Canyon. Here, the river Abasha has formed gorges, caves, and waterfalls over time, creating a world of heavenly colors. A boat will take us into the mysterious world of colors and rocks. The sound of the waterfalls will accompany us during this majestic journey. Afterward, we will return to Kutaisi.

Day 10     Kutaisi - Mestia
Today we will leave for mountainous Svaneti. The landscapes of the proud mountains take us to the village of Mestia where harmony dominates between man and nature. The legendary Ushba is the guardian of the village with its beautiful snowy slopes. After a short break, we will hike and discover this attractive little village with its old buildings and stone towers, which are included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 11     Mestia - Ushguli - Mestia
In the morning, we will head to the village of Ushguli. Located at more than 2200 m of altitude, it is the highest permanently inhabited settlement in Europe. From here, a beautiful view opens on the summit of Shkhara Mountain (5200 m). Next, we will depart to the 12th century Lamaria Church. In the evening we will return to Mestia.

Day 12     Mestia - Lake Korduli - Mestia
The morning will be devoted to the discovery of old Svaneti. 10 km away from Mestia, in the middle of the proud mountains, there is a small beautiful lake, which will appeal to us with its beauty and grant us fantastic moments. We will have to cross the splendid alpine landscapes in order to get there. Many natural monuments and idyllic glaciers will make our way particularly beautiful and give an indescribable feeling of freshness and simplicity. Here, by the lake, surrounded by beautiful nature, we will enjoy our picnic.

Day 13     Mestia - Batumi City Tour
Our destination for today will be a colorful city on the Black Sea. Along the way, we will have the chance to admire multi-faceted scenic landscapes. Next, we will arrive in Batumi: the city of eternal blue. First, we will explore the Piazza Square, which may also be called the symbol of Batumi. Beautiful mosaics and glazed windows will please you absolutely. Then we will go to the Europe Square, where you will unveil, an old astrological clock and the monument of Medea among other beautiful buildings. Later, we will discover St. Mary's Cathedral, originally built as a Catholic church.

Day 14     Batumi - Akhaltsikhe - Vardzia
After a leisurely breakfast, we will head to the old town of Akhaltsikhe. Here, we will find ''darbazi'', traditional Georgian style houses. Time seems to have stopped here and every stone has its history. We will visit the fortress and the ruins of a Madrasa (Koran school). Later, we will depart to the cave city Vardzia and have rest after a long day.

Day 15     Vardzia - Khertvisi Fortress - Tmogvi Ruins - Vardzia
The day will be spent on cave city tour and hikes. We will explore the Vardzia Cave Complex (12th-13th c.) - a monument to the Golden Age era. Over 900 meters along the left bank of the Kura River up to 600 rooms have been built: church, chapels, storage rooms, swimming pools, refectories, library and treasury. More than 1000 monks lived in the monastery fortress, and during the enemy attacks thousands of people could hide here. Next, we will walk up to Tmogvi and Khertvisi fortresses. Though partially destroyed, these two structures offer excellent hiking trails full of discoveries.

Day 16     Vardzia - Lake Paravani - Asureti - Tbilisi
In the morning, we will take the road towards Tbilisi. On the way, we will stop at Paravani lake and enjoy the splendid view of the picturesque lake. Before arriving in Tbilisi, we will also visit Asureti, the village of the Germans of the Caucasus.

Day 17     Tbilisi: Return Flight
Transfer to the airport. End of our services.
